Rolwaling trekking is the east-west valley below Gauri Shanker 7145m. just south of the Tibetan border. This is an isolated and culturally diverse area, but most treks conclude their visit to Rolwaling by crossing the Tesi Lapcha (5755m) into Khumbu. It is better to cross Tesi Lapcha from khumbu into Rolwaling, not by visiting Rolwaling first. There are two reasons for this: well-equipped, willing porters are easier to get in Khumbu than in Rolwaling and in case of altitude sickness there are better facilities for help if you make your retreat on the Khumbu side rather than making a retreat back to the isolated villages of Beding or Na in Rolwaling. A second way to visit this region would be to forego Tesi Lapcha and go as far as Na, then retrace the route back to Kathmandu.
