Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you are met by our airport representative -- look out for your name on a sign in the arrivals area. They bring you to the hotel where your room is already booked. If you're feeling up to it, take some time to explore Kathmandu's medieval Backstreets. Discover buildings dating back to the 16th century. Make your way down to Thamel, the main tourist area in Kathmandu and a great place to dine. Choose one of the many Nepalese or international restaurants -- the food is excellent at places like New Orleans Cafe, Rum Doodle and Beer Garden. Enjoy your evening and take plenty of rest to recover from that Jetlag. The adventure begins tomorrow!

Day 02: In Kathmandu (The magical Kathmandu)

Your local tour leader will meet you at the hotel and introduce you to the cities of Katmandu Valley. We begin our morning visiting Kathmandu’s main sites, including Durbar Square, Taleju Temple and the House of the Living Goddess. Durbar Square (UNESCO Heritage site), one of the old capitals of the Kathmandu valley, is a synthesis of Hindu and Buddhist temples, stupas and statues, and is often the site of festivals, marriages and other ceremonies. Kathmandu’s Durbar (palace) the heart of the capital was where the city’s kings were once crowned and legitimized, and from where they ruled. Next, we climb the many steps to Swayambhunath (UNESCO Heritage site) known by the name ‘the monkey temple’ with its commanding views of Kathmandu (at 1420 m), its whitewashed stupas and its unique synthesis of Buddhism and Hinduism. From here we can see the mighty Himalaya rising above the valley. Journey to nearby Patan (UNESCO Heritage site), the city of arts and architecture founded in AD 250 and known for its fine works in bronze, silver and copper. Many of these treasures can be seen in the new Patan Museum.  Time permits also visit the Tibetan Refugee Camp to watch a demonstration in carpet weaving.

Day 03: In Pokhara (The Gateway to the Annapurna)

After breakfast fly to Pokhara, centre of the Western Development Region and traditional trading Centre in the shadow of the Annapurna Massif. During our half an hour flight the view of the mighty Himalayan range, including the Annapurna, Ganesh, Mt. Nilgiri, and Manasulu will be a life time experience. Upon arrival our local representative will transfer us to our hotel. Afternoon we walk along the shores of the Phewa lake allowing us to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Pokhara valley. Birding at the shore of the lake is equally rewarding or we sit and relax in a cafe with a book. We’ll head for Moondance Cafe or Boomarang restaurant for dinner and drinks in the evening - great spots!

Day 04: In Pokhara (Tibetan refugee Camp–Pokhara Mountaineering Museum)

After our leisurely breakfast, we take a traditional rowing boat across the lake, stopping off en-route to see the Bharai temple on a small island, walk across the hills through woods and traditional Gurung village, a pleasant hike to Peace Stupa at an elevation of 1222m, and most scenic short excursion from Pokhara. This day hike will offer us a captivating glimpse of rural life and the magnificent view of Annapurna range and the Pokhara valley itself. On our return journey the trial leads us down to the Tibetan self-help refugee camp through the forest and rice fields other side of the hill. Time permits, we also try to make a shor visit to the Annapurna Conservation natural history museum in Pokhara University campus and Pokhara mountaineering Museum.

Day 05: In Kathmandu

After breakfast drive to Pokhara airport. We will enjoy our last day in Magical Kathmandu with plenty of time for shopping in Thamel the main tourist area of Kathmandu. Thamel is a myriad of banners, signs, music shops, bakeries, internet cafes, restaurants, bars, hotels, shops of all imaginable varieties and eccentrically clad backpackers.
